The role of the oxidizer is to quickly age wood to give it an older appearance and to soften the grain structure allowing the stain to absorb evenly. This is important for example, when a section of new wood has been used to repair a piece of furniture. You will not be able to match the look of the woods by staining alone; newer wood will simply end up looking new and stained. This can be solved by using Sutherland Welles Ltd.® Oxidizer Concentrate. Our Botanical Polymerized Tung Oil line uses the same polymerization process as all our Tung Oil wood finishes, however the solvent used is our proprietary, all botanical, citrus solvent, DiCitrusol™. The product is formulated with our Botanical Polymerized Tung Oil that makes application easy and offers flexibility to the finish, so it adheres to the wood regardless of seasonal expansion. Murdoch’s contains our citrus solvent, Di-Citrusol and our VOC exempt mineral spirits. The completed formulation meets the 350 g/l guidelines set forth by the Green Building Council for low- emitting coatings in an oil-based Varnish criteria.
