The hallmark of Polymerized Tung Oil finishes is the ease of maintenance. All wood surfaces need to be cleaned and refurbished periodically. How often depends on intensity and type of use.  Sutherland Welles Ltd.® created Botanical Wood Care™ for rejuvenating a Polymerized Tung Oil finish and a Polymerized Tung Oil Cleaner™ for surfaces that have been ignored for a time. Surfaces that are used often such as everyday dining tables, will require at least annual maintenance. Again because of our unique Loc-Lamin® Wood Finishing System, subsequent coats of any of our Polymerized Tung Oil products bond completely with previously finished surfaces. The result is a smooth surface with a renewed sheen! You have "fed" the wood with oil needed to protect it and enhanced the patina. Each time you coat the wood with oil you are adding beauty and longevity to the piece for generations to enjoy!

Sutherland Welles Ltd.® Dust &Tacking Oil™ is designed for periodic maintenance to remove dirt and dust particles from furniture, cabinets and floors. It can be used safely on most furniture finishes, but it is formulated specifically for any of our Polymerized Tung Oil and resin based systems. Dust &Tacking Oil™ is formulated with a mineral oil and our totally botanical, plant-derived solvent, Di-Citrusol™, which gives this dusting preparation a mild, pleasant citrus aroma. The solvent disperses the oil in the all cotton cloth to provide maximum dust and tacking efficiency. Typical spray dusting preparations should be avoided as they contain silicon and tend to gum up on the surface creating disasters. Dust & Tacking Oil™ can also be used to prepare wood before and between coats of hand-rubbed and surface finishes during the finishing process. Dust &Tacking Oil™ should be used according to the directions on the label.

Sutherland Welles Ltd.® Botanical Wood Care™ is formulated for the yearly maintenance of a hand-rubbed Polymerized Tung Oil finish or our resin based coatings. The formulation is a blend of a very mild cleaning agent and our Botanical Low Lustre Polymerized Tung Oil. In addition to cleaning the wood, it renews the sheen and re-moistures the wood with oil that is lost due to use and environmental exposure. Our Botanical Wood Care™ is formulated with Di-Citrusol™, our totally botanical, plant-derived solvent, which provides a mild pleasant citrus aroma. There is no wax added to the Wood Care™. Sutherland Welles Ltd.® Concentrated Stain™ can be added to the Wood Care™ to enrich a faded color.

Sutherland Welles Ltd.® Cleaner™ is designed to fulfill the same goals as above, but used where there is more grime or dirt such as on cupboard doors, interior trim or on furniture where maintenance has been neglected. It has the same percentage of our Botanical Low Lustre Polymerized Tung Oil as in Wood Care™, but a more powerful cleaning agent. After using the Cleaner, it may be necessary to re-coat the surface for added protection and to provide a richer sheen for the wood surface.
